Environmental Sustainability
2022 - 2023
SRES focuses on bringing attention to the role we each play in shaping the environment around us and the consequences of the decisions we make. We have projects in place to help make campus more sustainable and are always looking for more ideas and more hands to help put it all together.
We try to get out and enjoy the environment that we work so hard to protect, as well. We have multiple hiking trips scheduled, a kayaking trip to Wisconsin, a camping trip in May, a local cleanup and cookout, and time for a few other trips along the way.
If you enjoy the outdoors- hiking, camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, and learning about basic survival- as well as learning how we can help make our world a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable place to live, then we are club for you and have projects and events that you should check out.
SRES, or Students for Responsible Environmental Sustainability, is a student organization based out of Rock Valley College. Our objectives are to research, educate, and promote environmental sustainability and we promote outdoor education and recreation in a variety of forms. We are campus based but are all a part of our local communities so we try to give back to our communities every change we get.

We are dedicated to protecting and celebrating the outdoors. In addition to all of our projects to protect the environment and help restore damaged ecosystems, we are also your basic all around outdoor club. If you are interested in hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hunting, geocaching, random wanderings through the woods and interested in learning about the plants and animals we find- and how to survive off of them- we are your club and we would enjoy having you come along for the ride!
